Red Leafs Shine at GNAC Track & Field Championships

Ellensburg, Washington - May 10-11, 2024: The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships held at Tomlinson Stadium in Ellensburg, Washington, from May 10-11 showcased a display of athleticism and determination from the Red Leafs.
 
Marie-Eloise Leclair proved to be a dominant force in the women's 100m sprint, gliding across the track to secure victory with a time of 11.19 seconds. She also scored a season's best in the 200m with a time of 23.68 to top the 200m sprint.
 
In the middle-distance events, Claire Bosma and Emma Cannan showcased their determination in the women's 400m race, with Bosma clinching first place and Cannan finishing third. SFU's Megan Roxby also took first place in the women's 1500m and second place in the women's 800m.
 
SFU shined in relay events, as the women's 4x400m team, comprising Bosma, Cannan, Leclair, and Elizabeth Vanderput, delivered a stellar performance, claiming victory with a setting a season best time of 3:47.10.
 
Jacob Hall's placed third in the men's 100m sprint preliminaries, clocking a time of 10.59 seconds. Hall stepped up further for the finals, showcasing his speed and agility to claim second place with a time of 10.35 seconds.
 
Jesaiah Penson-Mccoy made it to the finals in both the men's 100m and 200m sprints. His stellar performance in the 200m sprint earned him second place, and he nabbed the fifth spot in the 100m.
 
Among the other standout performances were SFU's Jarrett Chong, who threw his javelin into a first place finish with a 64.25m distance, and Olivia Windbiel, who took third place in the women's triple jump, with a distance of 11.86m.
