SFU Wrestling Clocks In With Multiple Victories in Oregon

Simon Fraser University's wrestling teams turned in a strong performance at the Mike Clock Open, hosted by Pacific University at the Stoller Athletic Center in Forest Grove, Oregon. The women's team competed on Saturday, November 8, while the men's team took to the mats on Sunday, November 9.

Women's Results – Saturday, November 8

SFU's women dominated the competition, capturing several top finishes across multiple weight classes.

In the 110-pound division, Kelsey Loeun claimed first place, leading a strong SFU showing. Teammate Gina Bolognese followed closely behind in second. Bolognese earned her spot in the finals by pinning Evergreen State College freshman Leah Wallway in the semifinals at 2:16.

At 117 pounds, Ivy Threatful battled her way to a third-place finish, while in the 124-pound bracket, Laura Alcantar Soto also secured third.

SFU continued its success at 131 pounds, where Ella Finding captured the title with a first-place finish and teammate Agnia Krakosova placed third. In the 138-pound division, Anaka Chartrand reached the final and finished second. Chartrand advanced to that final after pinning Pacific University's Audrey Diaz, who went on to take third place.

The 145-pound class saw a sweep for Simon Fraser, with Liv Wieber taking the top spot and Amelia Lucas earning second place. At 160 pounds, Belen Lopez captured the championship, pinning Pacific University senior Paige Beals in the final match. Beals had advanced to the final after a dominant run that included a pin and two 10-0 technical falls before falling to Lopez.

Rupi Johal continued SFU's winning momentum at 180 pounds with another first-place finish, while Julia Richey closed out the women's competition on a high note by earning first place in the 207-pound division.

Men's Results – Sunday, November 9

The SFU men's team added to the weekend's success with several solid performances on Sunday.

At 165 pounds, Hugh Wheeler placed third, while Owen Gudmundson matched that result in the 184-pound bracket. Rounding out SFU's victories, Tejvir Dhinsa claimed third place at 197 pounds.
