Progress-toward-degree requirements are designed to guide student-athletes through their academic journey to graduation. These standards are in place to ensure that student-athletes take the appropriate steps toward their degree. This includes everything from grade-point average to annual and term credit hour requirements.

Degree Designation
After completing the second year of enrollment (beginning of the 5th full-time semester), a student-athlete must have a designated degree program. Please visit your SFU-NCAA Academic Advisor to make sure you are on track to declare your degree program by the 5th full-time semester.

Minimum GPA
Athletes must meet a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.0 and be in good academic standing.

Credit Hour Requirements
In order to compete, student-athletes must be registered in a minimum of 12 credits/units. To be eligible for the following year, student-athletes must meet the annual 24 credit-hour requirement following the summer terms. Of those 24 credit hours, 18 must be completed within the Fall and Spring semesters.  Within every student-athletes last full time semester, a minimum of 9 credit hours must be passed in order to meet Progress Toward Degree requirements.
