SEATTLE, WA --- After Thursday night's incredible victory for Simon Fraser, the team faced Seattle Pacific Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the team was unable to duplicate their results from their previous game, suffering a 94 – 68 loss to Seattle Pacific.
Simon Fraser was off to a good start with a good layup by
Julian Roche. However, their lead was short lived as Seattle Pacific wasted no time sinking their shots and taking the lead. Simon Fraser was unable to keep up with Seattle Pacific's pace as they created a 29-point gap by the game's half-way point.
The game was looking tough for Simon Fraser beginning the second half down 28 – 57. Although
Jasdeep Singh and
Othniel Spence were able to sink two successful layups at the start of the second half, Seattle Pacific did not let up the pressure putting, surging ahead by 36 points. Simon Fraser closed the game down 26, leaving Seattle Pacific victorious at 94 – 68.
Despite the tough loss, Simon Fraser excelled in their free throw accuracy at 78.9%, with Seattle falling just short of Simon Fraser at 73.7%. Seattle Pacific's win leaves them with a flawless record in the GNAC thus far at 10 – 0. Simon Fraser leaves the game at 5 – 5 in the GNAC.
Wilfried Balata and
Jasdeep Singh were game standouts putting up 24 and 11 points respectively. Balata grabbed 7 rebounds and a steal throughout the game. Singh was also able to pickup 5 rebounds and an assist.
Head Coach
Steve Hanson had a strong message for his players after the loss: "We didn't come ready to compete today. SPU kicked us from start to finish. Regardless of who we play, we have to bring our lunch pails each night. If we don't, tonight is the result we will have."
