ANCHORAGE – The NCAA 14th-ranked Alaska Anchorage volleyball team won its eighth straight game 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 over Simon Fraser Saturday evening at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves are the lone unbeaten in the GNAC standings with a 16-1 overall record and 6-0 conference mark. They overcame a huge third-set deficit to earn the win and hand SFU its third straight loss.
SFU opened conference play with two home victories but are now 5-9 overall, 2-3 in the GNAC.

Brooke Dexter, but could not capitalize on late third- and fourth-set leads. UAA rallied from an 18-11 hole in the third set to go ahead 2-1.
SFU will return home for games Thursday, Sept. 29 (Northwest Nazarene) and Saturday, Oct. 1 (Central Washington). The match on Sept. 29 will be a special evening with World Champion hoop dancer Alex Wells from the Lil'wat Nation, Mount Currie, performing at halftime of the volleyball match as SFU Athletics & Recreation recognizes National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. Traditional Indigenous food, such as Salmon Potato Patties, Indian tacos, Bannock, and Elephant Ears, will be prepared by Mama Bear Catering from the Lil'wat Nation. Saturday's match will feature in-game performances by the band Savage Groove
UAA was led by 12 kills apiece from seniors Eve Stephens and Lisa Jaunet.
Tied 10-10 in the opening set, the Seawolves took command with the next nine points and secure the win.
The Red Leafs outhit the hosts .229 to .094 to win the second set.
SFU appeared poised to take control of set three when
Eva Person and
Abby Willett blocked Nicole Blue to make it 18-11 late in the third, but the Seawolves answered with five straight points of their own and then tied the set at 22-22 and 23-23 before earning the win.
The Red Leafs forged ahead 18-17 in the fourth before UAA responded with a 7-1 run and then claim a 24-19 advantage. Following a pair of UAA errors, the Seawolves benefited on their third match point from a long serve by Person, who had 30 assists in the match.
