BURNABY, B.C. – Simon Fraser Track & Field is excited to welcome Yale O'Connor, a promising middle-distance runner originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to the 2025 roster. O'Connor joins SFU as a transfer student from the University of Victoria and brings with him a personal best of 1:53.94 in the 800m.

After opening his university career on the West Coast, O'Connor has shown notable progress, cutting over six seconds off his 800m time since the summer of 2023. Despite an injury that sidelined him for part of that period, his breakthrough reflects a commitment to growth and long-term development.

O'Connor will look to continue building momentum under SFU's middle-distance program. His goals include qualifying for the NCAA Championships and contributing to a competitive team environment at the conference and national levels. Off the track, he will pursue a business degree through the Beedie School of Business, attracted by its reputation for innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning.

The SFU coaching staff looks forward to supporting Yale's development as he brings both maturity and motivation to the team's middle-distance group.
