BURNABY, B.C. – Simon Fraser Track & Field is pleased to welcome Linden McDiarmid, a dedicated high jumper who grew up in Haida Gwaii and graduated from Gidgalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary, to the 2025 roster. Linden follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Caysen McDiarmid, who recently completed his SFU degree and also competed for the Red Leaf in the high jump.
Originally a basketball player like his brother, Linden made the transition to Track & Field with curiosity and commitment. His rapid development in the high jump has been a standout storyline this season, thanks to his consistency, work ethic, and drive to improve.
"Both Caysen and Linden came into the program wanting to learn high jump from scratch," said SFU jumps coach Jerrold Jones. "They've been incredibly dedicated—always at practice, always asking questions—and it's been amazing to see Linden make big strides in such a short time. We're excited to keep building with him."
One of the proudest moments of Linden's athletic journey so far was the chance to compete alongside his brother during the past year. That shared experience sparked a passion for the event and motivated him to take his training to the next level.
Now officially part of the Red Leaf team, Linden is focused on continuing his development. He shared, "My goal at SFU is to become the best jumper and teammate I can be."
Already enrolled at SFU, Linden said the choice to join the team felt natural. "I was already attending SFU and had the chance to meet most of the team last year. The supportive environment and team culture made it an easy decision to commit and become part of this program."
With strong mentorship, a family legacy, and growing potential, Linden is ready to take flight in the NCAA.
Welcome to SFU, Linden!
