BURNABY, B.C. – Simon Fraser Track & Field is pleased to announce the addition of Lawrence Man, a standout hammer thrower from Richmond, B.C., to the 2025 recruiting class. A graduate of J.N. Burnett Secondary School, Man brings a strong foundation in the throws and a promising trajectory as he joins the Red Leaf program.
Man's 2024 season was highlighted by a breakout performance at the BC High School Championships, where he delivered a massive 5-meter personal best with the 6kg hammer. He recently extended that improvement with a mark of 55.70m, breaking through the 50-meter barrier and establishing himself as one of the top high school throwers in the province.
SFU's facilities, competitive opportunities, and close-to-home location made the university a natural fit as he looks to grow in both athletics and academics.
Head Coach Brit Townsend expressed her excitement about the addition, "We're really happy to add another strong thrower to our program. Lawrence will be a great training partner for Dominic Warholm, and together they'll form a promising duo in the hammer."
The Red Leaf throws group, led by a dedicated coaching staff, provides an ideal environment for Lawrence to continue his development and take the next step in his athletic career.
Welcome to SFU, Lawrence!
