The Simon Fraser University (SFU) Women's Golf team kicked off the 2025-26 season with a solid performance at the Saint Martin's Grisham Memorial Shootout, held at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington.
SFU posted a team score of 591 (+15) over two rounds, securing a first-place finish in a competitive field. After an opening round of 293 (+5), the Red Leafs followed up with a 298 (+10) to close out the tournament.
Leading the way was
Anaya Bhandal, who finished 6th overall with rounds of 75 (+3) and 71 (-1) for a 146 (+2) total.
SFU showcased depth in its lineup with
Dana Smith and
Izzy Ferguson both tying for 7th place at 147 (+3). Ferguson impressed with a 70 (-2) in the opening round, while Smith delivered consistent scores of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1).
Meera Minhas added a T14 finish with rounds of 74 (+2) and 77 (+5), while
Belle Brezovski rounded out the team scoring at 157 (+13).
This is the second consecutive year the women's team has won the Grisham Memorial Shootout. With an impressive start and consistent performances across the team, SFU Women's Golf is well-positioned for a strong season ahead. Next up, the team travels to Amarillo, Texas for the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational from September 29-30.
