Simon Fraser University is 50, and to celebrate, we're counting down 50 Incredible Moments in Clan History. Incredible Moment 16 celebrates the athletic career of NAIA champion and three-time Olympian Leah Pells. 

Leah Pells was a rather ordinary high school runner who decided to attend SFU. She got a job at the pub to pay for her tuition and then knocked on the door of coach Zenon Smiechowski to ask if she could join the track team. From humble beginnings Pells went on to a remarkable career, first as NAIA champion and then a three-time Olympian.
