The championships will be held March 11 and 12 in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center on Pittsburg State University's campus.
A total of 540 participants, 270 men and 270 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
Of the 11 Clan athletes going, seven of them – Webster, Proceviat, Rouleau, Bassett, Townsend, Mussatto and Desch -- will be particularly busy both days of the meet, competing in two events each.
Prelims take place Friday evening along with finals for the distance medley relay and men's long jump. The 4x400 metres is the final event of the meet on Saturday.
ProceviatCameron ProceviatIt will be the first indoor championships for the two-time GNAC 800 metres champion Proceviat. The Clan senior is the No. 8 seed for the 800-metres preliminaries with his personal best time of 1:49.77, which he set last weekend at the SPU Final Qualifier. That was the second fastest time in GNAC history behind rival Badane Sultessa (WOU) who is also entered in the race at nationals and ranked No. 6. The top seed in the 800 carries a time of 1:49.07 and the top 10 seeds are separated by less than a second so it is anyone's race to win. The top seed from TAMU-Kingsville has jumped 7.91 metres so Tsygankov will have some ground to make up. The men's long jump finals are Friday evening.
