BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser Red Leafs placed ninth at the Otter Invitational men's golf tournament in Seaside, California, the team's last event of the fall.
SFU shot a three-round score of 27-over-par 891 at the Bayonet Golf Course (par-72, 7,104 yards). The Red Leafs fired an even-par 288 and a 13-over 301 on Monday before concluding with a 14-over 302 today.
"Overall, a disappointing end of a great fall season," remarked SFU head coach
Matthew Steinbach. "The golf course got the best of us this week. We will use this event as motivation in the off-season and I know the guys will be better when we return to competition in February."
Senior
Jordan Bean was the highest-placing Red Leaf, tying for 22nd at 4-over 220 (72-73-75). He recorded an eagle, on his 16th hole today (No. 1 on the course), and eight birdies at the tournament.
Sophomore
Bailey Bjornson had 11 birdies en route to a 26th-place tie on the individual leaderboard. Bjornson was 5-over for the event, completing it in 221 strokes (70-77-74).

Senior
Aidan Goodfellow tied for 48th at 9-over 225 (72-78-75). He and Bjornson topped the SFU roster with 11 birdies at the Otter Invitational.
Kyle Mayner tied for 53rd with a 54-hole result of 11-over 227 (75-74-78). The sophomore had eight birdies over the two days of competition.
Junior
Michael Crisologo posted nine birdies and an eagle as part of his 13-over 229. He shot rounds of 74, 77 and 78 to tie for 67th.
The SFU men's golf team will return to university competition in the spring, with its first event being the St. Mary's Rattler Invitational, Feb. 20-21 in San Antonio, Texas.
