Nwabuko and Jones Lead Simon Fraser Victory Against Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, WA ---

A steady and consistent effort by Simon Fraser resulted in a 65 – 59 win against Central Washington University Saturday night.  Simon Fraser brought the heat throughout the game, never letting Central Washington have a lead ay any point.
  
Simon Fraser started the game on a good note with an instant basket by senior Claudia Hart.  Simon Fraser fed off the energy of the play and performed with consistency that put them ahead of Central Washington early on.  The quarter ended with a successful three pointer from Central Washington, still leaving Simon Fraser ahead by 4 points.

Hart opened the second quarter with a basket driving the point gap larger.  Simon Fraser was able to gain a 10-point lead before Central Washington pushed for a 7-point run in an attempt to match Simon Fraser before the game's half point.  Simon Fraser continued to lead a consistent game in the third quarter, keeping Central Washington no closer than a basket's reach. 
  
Jessica Jones and Ozioma Nwabuko brought the heat in the final quarter, scoring 15 of SFU's 20 points in the frame. Jones was able to help push the team to a strong lead with a 6-point run that included a jumper, free throw and three pointer all within a total of 15 seconds. In the final minutes of the game Central Washington resorted to fouling Simon Fraser, giving Simon Fraser an opportunity for points on the free throw line. The game finished with successful free throw shots by Kendal Sands. In the end, Simon Fraser left Ellensburg with a satisfying victory of 65- 59.

Central Washington excelled in their field goal accuracy, shooting  45.3% while Simon Fraser shot just 38.7%. However, Simon Fraser dominated in other remaining areas: SFU shot 80% from the charity stripe while Central Washington shot just 57.1%. Simon Fraser also totaled 11 steals throughout the game, while Central Washington was only able to catch Simon Fraser off guard twice.
  
Standout game leader Ozioma Nwabuko had an excellent performance on the court, taking 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in addition to her 15 points, while Jessica Jones also shone, contributing 13 points to Simon Fraser's win.
