BURNABY, B.C. -- The Simon Fraser women's wrestling team continued its winning ways Friday, defeating all three of its opponents at the Menlo College Duals in Atherton, California.

SFU beat host Menlo 25-16, Grays Harbor College (Wash.) 40-0 and Umpqua Community College (Ore.) 37-9. The team is coming off a victory last weekend at the Golden Bear Invitational in Edmonton, where it defeated a handful of Western Canadian schools. 

"Menlo College is a good team with two world class wrestlers (Alleida Martinez and Gracie Figueroa) so it was a nice win," said SFU head coach Justin Abdou. "They are definitely one of the best teams we've seen this year so it was a nice win. Really solid performances in that dual by Maddie, Alexia, Karla, Lauren and Emily."

Freshman Maddie MacKenzie (101 pounds), senior Alexia Seal (109), senior Karla Godinez-Gonzalez (123), senior Lauren Mason (130), senior Alyvia Fiske (155) and junior Emily Cue (170) all went undefeated in multiple matches to lead SFU.

MacKenzie beat Menlo's Tianna Fernandez via technical fall, and pinned Umpqua's Violeta Evangelista, while earning a full six team points for SFU against Umpqua because of a forfeit.

Seal had a technical fall victory over Barbara Greenberg of Menlo, and two other ones via forfeit. Godinez-Gonzalez outscored Alana Vivas 6-0 in the Menlo dual, and then posted technical fall triumphs in the other two.

Mason won a pair of 130-pound matches, pinning Menlo's Nanea Estrella and besting Amanda Smith of Umpqua by technical fall. She also wrestled an extra match at 136 pounds against Grays Harbor that didn't not factor in the team scores. Mason recorded the technical-fall win.
 

Fiske won via forfeit against Menlo, by technical fall versus Grays Harbor, and pinned Umpqua's Evelyn Lopez-Mata.

Cue triumphed over Alia Abushi of Menlo, and then posted two forfeit wins. 

SFU wrestlers will compete in the Menlo Women's Open Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
