BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser men's golf team finished fourth at the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham Tuesday, with sophomore
Bailey Bjornson tying for fourth in the individual competition to lead the Red Leafs.
SFU improved every round in recording a score of 3-under-par 861 (293-286-282) at the par-72, 6,610-yard Bellingham Golf and Country Club. The event began with two rounds on Monday.
Bjornson had a final score of 5-under 211 (71-69-71), placing fourth alongside two others. He had nine birdies and an eagle at the tournament. The eagle came on his 16th hole (No. 1 on the course) in Tuesday's final round, which also included a birdie and 14 pars.
Freshman
Aneesh Kaura posted an impressive showing in his debut tournament at the NCAA level. He tied for ninth at 1-under 215 (71-74-70), recording a dozen birdies in the process. Kaura competed as an individual and his results did not contribute to SFU's team score.

At 1-over 217, junior
Michael Crisologo tied for 16th. He bettered his results in each round, signing for scores of 75, 73, and 69. Crisologo had eight birdies over the course of the tournament, as well as an eagle, recorded on his seventh hole (No. 11) in the final round.
Senior
Jordan Bean and sophomore
Kyle Mayner were part of a six-player group in 25th place (3-over 219). Bean had a dozen birdies over the three rounds. He began the event with a 5-over 77 before firing back-to-back 1-under 71s. Mayner had nine birdies as he lowered his score by a couple of strokes in each round, going 75-73-71.
Reigning Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week
Aidan Goodfellow tied for 37th at 5-over 221. He started and finished the WWU Invitational with even-par 72s, bookending a 77 in Round 2. The senior recorded eight birdies, and an eagle.
Sophomore
Logan Boucher was also competing as an individual, and tied for 63rd (13-over 229). Boucher had seven birdies and an eagle over the three rounds.
SFU's next tournament is the Chico State Wildcat Classic Oct. 10-11 at the Peach Tree Golf & Country Club in Marysville, California.
