Bill Robinson left his hometown of Chemainus, BC, in 1967 to join the SFU basketball program. A 5-foot-10 guard, Bill played four seasons at SFU, averaging 14.3 points per game, and scored 1,504 career points. In his senior season Bill was named NAIA All-American Honourable Mention. 
 
Bill made his international debut for Canada at the 1970 World Cup, marking the start of a long international career. At the 1974 World Cup he was selected to the All-World All-Star Team. 
 
Bill captained Team Canada at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, leading the team to a fourth place finish. He is a member of the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.
