Gail Klaver (nee Sayers) was a standout player as a teenager at Centennial Secondary in Coquitlam, BC, and she brought that same skill and passion to the Simon Fraser University women's basketball program during the 1970s.

Gail played for SFU from 1973-1978 and was the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,537 points) and rebounder (1,385 rebounds) after her four-year collegiate career. Gail’s ability to grab loose balls on the boards was legendary and her career rebounding record stood for decades.  She held four other school records upon graduation.

Gail was named SFU Female Athlete of the Year in 1976 and 1977.

Gail was a member of the 1976 Canadian Junior National Team and she represented Canada at the World Student Games.
